This was taken quite a while ago, some time between 5am - 7am at South Melbourne pier. My favourite time of day. Hardly anybody else awake and lighting is so amazing.
I wrote this piece that morning:
The change carried a cool wind as the warm night turned into a chilly morning. I started my morning walk with the "Good Morning" tune from "Singing in the Rain" dancing in my head. It quickly turned into a thoughtful self-reflection as I failed to wish a good morning to a man walking his dog. We crossed paths in silence, I not able to see his face for it was still quite dark at 5am, I concentrating on the dog and wishing that I had one to take for a walk with me, I wishing the man to have a good morning, I not saying it out loud, I sensing his eyes on me, he walking on his way and I creating mine. The wish untold.
An hour later I stood at the edge of the pier. A step ahead starts the sea that goes on and on and it could take me so far. And I thought that next time I want to run away and live in far and unknown places, I will come to that pier and breathe in the history of deep and loud water and I will let it tempt me. Two men and a woman readily answered my now confident "good morning" wishes. They lured little fishes onto the sharp and nasty metal hooks. I saw them catch a few. Every time the woman said "It's too small, put it back" and so the men did. Poor little fish. Injured and then shockingly lifted out of their homes, soon declared too small and unsuitable. Somebody left an orange starfish to dry on the wood of the pier. Its edges were deep pink. Dead. I rolled it to the edge and pushed it into the water. Soon there was a still yellow star glowing out of the dark green weed.
Later on I stood and watched the sea. Transparent water. So immense. Foamless waves crashing near my feet. They looked strange. Just a few metres away the waves had the white edges, but not at my feet. There was just transparent water. Maybe a few bubbles, but not enough to all together be white.
It's so good to see another artist who writes elaborate descriptions. I enjoyed the short paragraphs just as much as the photo itself.
The photo: Lovely hues, the water is amazingly rippled and the pier stands out in perfect black. Actually, my favorite spot is that little bug with the flapping wings on the left. (it is a bug, right?)
The prose: This is the work of an introvert. The paragraph about the starfish really saddened me, too...
I think I'll be +watching you for quite a while! must go through your gallery soon.

nice photo. what i like most about it is the lamp, the soft way it tops the colorfull mood, and the colors themselves with this gloomy yellow
only the format bothers me a bit. somehow i feel like these birds need more space to fly. as they do look so different from the other structures they attract the view, which then is limited inbetween the horizontal on the left, which again is even higher than the pier itself continues on the right and in the background (what makes the 'presure on the birds' stronger)
but still this is a beautyful shot; those thin colors are simply amazing
I love of the paragraph more than the photo. the photo is dramatic, but the birds.. seem to throw off the balance, the hogs. but that's dramatic.
but the paragraph, so many diffrent parts, like the dog with his man, and then the dead starfish, left there by some uncaring or ignorant somebody..
but the photograph is beautiful, pretty, with some excellent parts

I suck, you suck, we all suck, but those that suck me don't suck as much.
It's sometimes tricky with descriptions. With some images, I want them to convey a feeling or idea. I just feel like words can spoil that sometimes. Then again, some others - like this one, are pretty much straight forward so then they benefit from a description. Or like another person commented, people like the words more than the picture - but hey, that kinda makes me happier Picture is just what was there and words are what was felt. If that makes sense.
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
